Every year, more than 3.6 million women give birth in the United States. Each one of those women experiences a journey that is personal, powerful, and often—isolating.
At MSP Wheaton, we’ve always believed in the power of strength—physical, mental, and emotional. But as we looked around our space, we saw a gap. We saw new and expecting moms unsure of how to move their bodies, wondering if their workouts were safe, and too often, feeling like they didn’t belong in a gym during this season of life. That’s why we created MSP Postpartum Strength.
A Program Designed for Moms—by Coaches Who Understand
This program was born out of a simple, but critical, need: a safe, welcoming space where women can be strong and supported through pregnancy and postpartum.
We know this time is filled with uncertainty. Whether it’s your first or your fourth baby, your body feels different. Your schedule is unpredictable. You’re tired, overwhelmed, and probably putting yourself last. But movement is one of the most powerful tools you have for healing, energy, and connection.
Why Movement Matters
Research shows that appropriate exercise during pregnancy and postpartum can:
- Improve energy levels and sleep
- Reduce pregnancy-related discomforts (like back pain and swelling)
- Support mental health and reduce risk of postpartum depression
- Build strength for labor, delivery, and daily life with a baby
- Speed up postpartum recovery
And perhaps just as important, it gives women a space to reconnect with themselves and others.
You Are Not Alone
So many moms feel isolated after their baby. The truth is, you are not meant to do this alone. We believe movement is more than a physical act—it’s a reminder that your body is powerful. It’s a way to process the changes you’re going through. It’s a bridge to community.
MSP Postpartum Strength is more than a workout. It’s a space where moms can:
- Move safely under the guidance of certified coaches
- Rebuild strength and confidence
- Connect with other women who get it
- Feel seen, supported, and strong again
From Our Coaches
A note from Ashley and Hannah:
“As a former career nanny, I’ve been the support system for moms going through their pregnancy while juggling the rest of their lives, their return to work after time off, and have seen first hand how one person can make a difference in this vulnerable time!
When Ashley brought up the idea of becoming a pre and postpartum strength training coach, I was intimidated but intrigued at the same time. Overall, I’m excited to become a support system for women again and combine my passions for fitness and families. This program will mean so much to me to see women connect with each other, which is what it’s all about! I hope MSP Postpartum Strength is able to make at least one woman feel strong and confident in this part of their life.” – Coach Hannah Grosh
“As I’ve seen my sisters and members of our gym experience pregnancy and postpartum, I’ve realized how vulnerable the weeks, months, and years can be for women after they bring a little one into the world. The female body is absolutely incredible in the way it can bring life, yet I’ve seen how little support there is for women after childbirth to support them as they return to the physical activities they enjoy! I have become passionate the last couple of years about helping to make resources, education, and informed movement and nutrition more available to the women in our community in this stage of life. I am SO excited to be co-leading the MSP Postpartum Strength program!” – Coach Ashley Sell
